Use 'x' (radial distance). Shape is revolved around Y-axis.
Warning: Uses eval(). Be cautious with input.
Extrude Profile: Polar Function (r = f(θ))
Use 'theta' (angle in radians).
Warning: Uses eval(). Be cautious with input.
Lathe Profile: Parametric Shape
Lathe Profile: Free Hand Drawing
Click and drag on the preview canvas above to draw the shape profile. Profile is drawn in the XY plane and revolved around the Y-axis.
Lathe: Wall Thickness (Optional)
Measured inwards from the profile curve.
Lathe: Revolution Parameters

PolarGen3
Generate 3D lathe or polar-extruded shapes from formulas, presets, or freehand profiles, preview them, and download STL, OBJ, or GLB.
What this tool does
PolarGen3 creates a live 3D model from a mathematical profile, an embedded preset, or a freehand outline. Use lathe mode for a revolution, polar mode for a filled or perimeter extrusion, or a parametric semicircle or ellipse profile.
Who this is for
Makers prototyping rotational or extruded geometry
Designers comparing profile formulas and preset shapes
Students experimenting with polar coordinates and mesh settings
How to use this tool
Select lathe, polar, parametric, or freehand mode
Enter a profile formula or choose a preset, then set depth, angles, segments, axis, or wall thickness
Generate the model and inspect the 2D preview and orbitable 3D view
Download the generated geometry as STL, OBJ, or GLB
Inputs
Inputs include x/y or polar expressions, angle and radius ranges, filled-area or perimeter-ribbon selection, extrusion depth, revolution span, axis, sampling segments, wall thickness, and freehand points.
Outputs
The page shows a 2D profile and interactive Three.js model, with STL, OBJ, and GLB downloads after generation. It has no project account, server storage, or save/load feature.
Example use cases
Turn a polar curve into a shallow 3D study
Compare a filled extrusion with a perimeter ribbon
Export a quick concept mesh for later CAD cleanup

Frequently asked questions
Is PolarGen3 a lathe or a polar extruder?
It supports both. Lathe mode revolves a profile around a selected axis, while polar mode extrudes a filled area or perimeter ribbon to a chosen depth.
What do the angle and profile inputs control?
The profile inputs define the 2D curve, while polar angle/radius ranges, revolution span, depth, and segment counts determine the resulting mesh.
Can it create hollow or partial revolutions?
Lathe mode includes wall thickness and start/sweep angle controls for hollow or partial rotational forms.
Why is a preset or export blank?
Check that the formula returns finite values and that a model has been generated. Very high segment counts can also make rendering or export slow.
