AI agent interface & portable project

Use labelled controls or window.woodCraft. Agents and humans use the same validation, calculations and exports. All API lengths are in mm; UI inch inputs accept decimals, 3/4, or 1 1/2.

Get outputs as text with getOutput({format:"svg"}). Also available: stl with part:"A" or "B", csv, cutlist-csv, json, print-html and manifest. Optional browser capabilities never block exports.

    Assumptions & workshop references

North American stock choices are starting dimensions. Measure your lumber, including dressed or rough sizes, before making a template. Wood movement and rounded edges are not modelled.

W is face width, T is thickness, and Z runs from the square blank start toward its end. Miter signs describe this coordinate system; your saw's left/right labels may differ. Preview the waste side and make a test cut.

Canadian Wood Council: actual and nominal lumber · DEWALT: miter and bevel operation. Follow your own tool’s manual.

    WoodCraft woodworking cut-layout workshop

Offline woodworking layout tool with 20 presets for framing and joinery cuts. Export full-size templates, cut lists, SVG, CSV, JSON and eligible jig STLs.

    What it does

Creates 3D previews, face coordinates, templates, and cut-list entries for common framing, post, brace, shelf, and furniture cuts. Presets and editable settings cover square and angled ends, miters, recesses/dados, birdsmouths, tenons, and tapered faces.

Who it is for and when to use it

For woodworkers, carpenters, and DIY builders who want to lay out a measured cut, check its orientation, or organize several parts into a portable cut list.

    How to use it

    1. Choose one of 20 presets or a cut type, select a stock profile and input units, and verify the actual board dimensions.
    2. Enter stock dimensions, quantity, and the cut-specific angles, positions, depths, or joinery measurements; inspect the 3D view and face coordinates.
    3. Set print, kerf, or marking-jig options as needed, add parts to the cut list, then save or import a JSON project or export the desired output.

    Inputs

Stock type or measured width, thickness, and length; cut type and quantity; miter and bevel angles; start-end angles; recess position, width, and depth; birdsmouth rise and seat; tenon length and side inset; taper length and end width; display units; paper and overlap; jig clearances, wall, band, slot and printer-bed dimensions; and kerf allowance.

    Outputs

Interactive 3D cut views, face coordinates, full-size millimetre SVG templates, tiled print pages, coordinate CSV, cut-list CSV, JSON projects, an agent manifest, and STL marking jigs where the geometry supports them. The browser print dialog can save templates as PDF. Agent outputs are returned as text with a filename and MIME type; STL may contain one or two parts.

    Example use cases

    Limitations and data

This is a layout aid, not a structural design, span check, code-compliance check, or fastener design tool. Stock presets are starting dimensions; verify actual dressed or rough stock. Wood movement and rounded edges are not modelled. Kerf affects the cut-list allowance only, not the geometry; cut on the waste side and verify saw orientation because left/right conventions vary. Marking jigs are guides, not router templates; remove them before powered cutting. Projects stay in this browser; a cut list supports up to 200 parts, and JSON file import is limited to 2 MB. The analytics tag may send page-view data to Google when online.

    Agent interface

window.woodCraft exposes listPresets, getState, setPreset, update, addPart, loadPart, removePart, getOutput, importProject, and manifest. API dimensions use millimetres even when the UI displays inches. getOutput supports SVG, STL, coordinates CSV, cut-list CSV, JSON, print HTML, and the manifest, returning text directly. UI printing and downloads still require user-facing actions. Optional WebMCP registration depends on browser support.
