  1. Support your phone above the paper with a stable stand. Leave room for your hand.
  2. Tap Start camera and allow access. Aim the rear camera at the paper.
  3. Import image. Drag and pinch to line it up. Adjust opacity to see your pencil.
  4. Tap Lock image, then Focus for more space. Trace while looking at the screen.

This is an on-screen overlay, not a light projector. It does not track the paper. Keep the phone and paper still. Changing screen orientation or preview size requires realignment.

Camera access requires a supported browser and a secure page (HTTPS or localhost). If a downloaded file or in-app preview cannot access the camera, host this HTML on an HTTPS site and open it in Safari or Chrome.

What this tool does

Trace Through is an on-screen drawing aid. It displays a camera preview or imported image, then lets you position, scale, rotate, mirror, hide and adjust the overlay while you draw on paper beneath the device.

How to use this tool

  1. Place the device on a stable stand above the paper
  2. Start the camera on a supported HTTPS or localhost page, or import an image from the device
  3. Adjust opacity and size, then drag or pinch the overlay into alignment
  4. Use Center / fit, Rotation, Mirror or White removal as needed
  5. Lock the image before tracing, and use Focus to hide the control panel

Inputs

The app accepts camera permission, an imported image, overlay opacity, size, rotation, mirror and white-removal settings, camera switching, torch controls where supported, image lock and focus actions.

Outputs

The page shows a live camera preview with an image overlay and a status message. Settings are saved locally when available; images remain on the device and are not uploaded. It does not track paper automatically or project light onto it.
