How to convert an image to voxels
Import a file, choose voxel width, a depth style and a limited palette. Transparent areas are skipped. You can reduce gradient colours or choose monochrome, then click Rebuild.
Voxel Studio converts pictures and vector graphics into blocks you can inspect, recolour and export. Add PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG and other image types your browser can decode. Turn a logo into a solid extrusion, make an embossed landscape from a brightness map, create pixel-art-style cubes, or combine several images into one scene.

Click a colour group in the 3D view or palette. Recolour every matching block, hide it, isolate it or drag it to a new position. Import several images to make layered compositions.
Download GLB with material colours, OBJ plus its MTL material file, or STL for geometry-only workflows. Save a JSON project to keep source images and editable settings.
The browser rasterizes SVG artwork before generating voxels. Increase voxel width for more detail. Complex externally linked SVG resources may be restricted by the browser.
One image contains only a 2D view, so the editor creates artistic 3D reliefs, extrusions and block arrangements. It cannot infer accurate unseen sides, real-world dimensions or hidden surfaces.
Yes. The preview supports touch orbiting and pinch zoom. Switch to Move colour or Move image to drag a selected part. Import, palette and export controls appear below the viewer on narrow screens.
The editor runs locally in your browser after its 3D library loads; images are not sent to a server by this page. Compatible browser, WebGL and internet access for the library are required.
Create image to voxel 3D models, limit colors for 3D printing, arrange image layers, and export GLB, OBJ+MTL, or color-free STL geometry.
Voxel Studio converts imported images into editable 3D voxel models. It can turn image pixels into color groups, give them a flat, solid, or relief-style form, and arrange multiple image layers in one scene.
Artists, makers, students, and 3D-printing hobbyists who want to turn 2D artwork or images into voxel-style models they can edit and export.
Import image files as separate layers. Adjust the voxel style, width, depth, color limit, transparency threshold, background tolerance, and single-color options. The palette limit ranges from 2 to 24 editable colors.
Voxel Studio can export an STL mesh to take into a 3D-printing slicer. Reduce the palette before exporting when you want fewer color groups in a color-capable workflow. STL itself stores geometry only, so it does not retain the palette; GLB or OBJ+MTL preserve material colors for compatible software, but the slicer and printer must support the chosen workflow. Check scale, mesh intersections, and required supports before printing; this app does not validate printability.
Use Save project and Open to save and reload an editable JSON project file. The app processes imported images in the browser and does not sync project files to an account. Its 3D engine loads from jsDelivr, and the page includes the site's standard Google Analytics page-view tag when online.
Yes. Export the voxel mesh as STL for a slicer, then check scale, intersections, supports, and your printer settings. Export does not guarantee a successful print.
No. STL contains geometry only. GLB and OBJ+MTL can preserve material colors in compatible software; actual multi-color printing depends on your slicer and printer.
The editable palette can be limited to 2–24 colors. Choose a limit that fits your target material and printing workflow.
